1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how the app “MIDI Probe” (the “App”) handles information when you use it. The App is designed to function without collecting personal data and without transmitting user data to the developer.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data collected by the developer

None. The developer does not collect, store, or receive personal data from the App.

2.2 Data you may provide voluntarily

If you contact support by email, you provide:

  • your email address, and
  • the content of your message (and any attachments you include).

This information is used only to respond to your request.

2.3 Data processed locally on your device

The App may process and store locally (on-device) information such as:

  • app preferences/settings,
  • MIDI-related configuration inside the App (e.g., selected ports/routes),
  • names/identifiers of connected MIDI endpoints as provided by the operating system or connected devices (for display/selection).

This data stays on your device unless you choose to share it (e.g., via screenshots or support email).

3. Data Leaving the Device
The App transmits MIDI commands/data to MIDI devices and/or MIDI-enabled software you connect to (e.g., via USB, Bluetooth MIDI, or network MIDI where supported by your setup). This transmission is required for the App’s core function.

Other than MIDI output to your connected devices/software, the App does not transmit data to the developer and does not use a backend.

4. App Permissions
Depending on how you use the App, iOS may prompt for permissions such as:

  • Bluetooth (for Bluetooth MIDI devices),
  • Local Network (if you use network MIDI capabilities on your network, where applicable).

The App uses these permissions only to enable MIDI connectivity and functionality.

5. Tracking and Advertising
The App does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). The App therefore does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.

6. Sharing of Data
The developer does not sell, rent, or share personal data, because the App does not collect personal data.

7. Apple Platform Services (Diagnostics / “Default” Apple Features)
Apple may process certain device or diagnostics information under Apple’s own policies and user settings (for example, iOS analytics and crash reporting features). Any such processing is handled by Apple as part of the platform. The developer does not operate separate analytics or crash-reporting services and does not use third-party SDKs for those purposes.

7a. Third-Party SDKs

The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. The developer does not receive analytics or diagnostics data from the App.

8. Data Retention

  • On-device App data: retained on your device until you delete the App (or remove its data where applicable).
  • Support emails: retained only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, then deleted when no longer necessary.

On-device App data may be included in device backups (e.g., iCloud backup) depending on your iOS settings. The developer does not access those backups.

9. Security
The App is designed to minimize data handling by keeping information on-device. If you email support, please avoid sending sensitive personal information.

10. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can delete on-device data by deleting the App.
  • You can control system permissions (e.g., Bluetooth/Local Network) in iOS Settings.
  • If you contact support and want your email correspondence deleted, contact midiprobe@hitz.works.

Depending on your location (e.g., EU/UK), you may have legal rights regarding personal data; however, since the App does not collect personal data, most requests will be handled through support correspondence only.

11. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The “Effective date” indicates the latest version.
